Its flagship product, GateD, is the de facto standard for vendor-neutral routing software.

The Situation
NextHop’s development environment is unique in that their customers procure their networking sourcecode as IP, for later integration into end products. As a result, each customer has their own unique requirement for the IP, which presented a formidable challenge in revision control and management.

The typical process before Calavista and devEDGE involved delivering comprehensive bug fixes on a particular IP product to the customer, but not understanding which particular files were affected by the bug fixes, whether specific bug fixes were not an issue to the customer (i.e., don’t change the code!), or how it would impact their application/product once implemented. Their customer solution was simply take-it-all.
