Sandeep began his career in technology by earning degrees in Cognitive Sciences and Electrical Engineering from Rice University, and a master’s in Computer Science from MIT. His academic research at these institutions focused on parallel and distributed operating systems, and shared memory architectures.
Throughout his career Sandeep has worked at large companies such as IBM and Texas Instruments, and private start-up companies such as Trilogy Software and Aviri in various development and consulting management roles.
In 2001 Sandeep founded Calavista Software with his business partner, Lawrence Waugh. Since the company’s inception, a keen focus on driving successful customer deployments along with a proprietary and patented Hyper-Agile® software delivery methodology has taken the company to an unparalleled customer success rate of 90%.
Sandeep is passionate about providing children with an opportunity to spark their interest in technology development. He volunteers as a Robotics Coach at his local elementary school and has presented at the school’s Science and Engineering Day. Sandeep is also a Sunday school teacher for a high school group. Lawrence Waugh graduated from MIT with degrees in Aerospace/Astronautic Engineering and Humanities before spending seven years as a U.S. Navy carrier pilot. After leaving the Navy he returned to graduate school, earning his master’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University.
Recruited out of Stanford by Trilogy Software in Austin, he spent the next seven years working with various enterprise software companies in development and consulting roles ranging from individual contributor to Vice President of Engineering. During that time, he became passionately concerned with software quality, and the development processes and tools that promote it.
In 2001 Lawrence and his business partner, Sandeep Gupta, founded Calavista Software which set out to help other companies improve the quality of software delivery. Calavista bootstrapped its way to profitability, providing software development and testing services, as well as licensing their proprietary and patented development tools.

Yalim Aytul was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He studied at the Terakki High School in Istanbul and later at the Yildiz University in Istanbul. He has a Mechanical Engineering degree and has worked as software engineer, development team lead, architect and consultant. Yalim is a Senior Architect at Calavista with experience building cross-cutting audit functionality in a HIPAA compliant system. In addition, he has built an e-commerce system for a gold trade system with real-time prices.
Yalim has a proven track record of outstanding management experience with nine years of leading teams to successful project completion. He utilizes innovative problem solving techniques in coordinating project plans to resolve issues and assure superior service from project inception to completion. Yalim is familiar with all stages of the software development and testing processes, from conception, design to deployment and maintenance. Yalim has a thorough understanding of object-oriented application development concepts and their applications in a pattern oriented development framework. He takes a hands on approach to developing large scale, high availability and distributed systems.

Uwe has been with Calavista Software since 2007. As a Solutions Director he is responsible for managing all aspects of software development projects from requirements specification to development, testing, and deployment. He works closely with clients as well as Calavista’s local and distributed development teams to ensure the successful outcome of every project.
Uwe has been working in technology since he graduated with degrees in Math and Computer Science from Indiana University. He worked for Texas Instruments as a software developer while playing professional basketball in the NBA. After retiring from basketball in 1993, Uwe worked as a software developer for Continuum (CSC), managed the Austin branch of the small software development firm, Interface Technologies in Dallas, and was the CEO of Paragon Systems Integration, a systems integration and data/voice cabling company.
Uwe is an experienced developer and technical manager, an Olympic athlete (playing for the German Olympic basketball team in 1984 and 1992), an Academic All-American Athlete (graduating Magna Cum Laude), and a five-year NBA veteran playing for the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs. Jen Chaney has over 20 years of leadership experience in the technology industry with an additional 3 years of management and EMR maintenance responsibility in the Health Care industry. Her SaaS-specific roles span eCommerce, Human Resources and Telecom Expense Management. She is passionate about employee satisfaction, client success, and efficient processes/tools. Jen holds a high regard for company core values, and is a trusted individual at all levels within an organization. Jen joined Calavista in 2015 as a Solutions Director.
During her career in the Medical industry, Jen has implemented Physician and Nurse daily health care practice workflows within EpicCare’s EMR platform for a Prudential Health Care group in Austin, TX. This included elicitation of requirements from Physicians and Nurses, including onsite observation, in the areas of Obstetrics, Family Practice and Pediatrics. She was responsible for defining the daily health care practice workflows, creating and maintaining the metadata to support them, and leading training sessions for the Medical Care Team.
Jen has solid expertise driving and managing change within data-centric business and SaaS environments utilizing Agile development – she is also a certified ScrumMaster. She’s successfully managed multiple off-shore operational and technical teams with over 45 employees. Linda has over 25 years in the software industry including 15 years of consulting experience providing senior-level guidance and management in defining and deploying software ranging from enterprise and SaaS systems to Web-based applications for high-tech start-ups.
Linda joined Calavista Software in 2008 as Solutions Director, where she acts as a product, development, and customer relations manager. In her role she is primarily responsible for the successful delivery of projects and works closely with clients as well as Calavista’s local and distributed development teams.
Previously, Linda held the position of Managing Director in Consulting at Callidus Software where she was responsible for a portfolio of customers across North America, South America, and Asia Pacific. Prior to Callidus, Linda also worked at Trilogy Software where she managed and deployed sales force automation systems globally. During her career, Linda has held technical roles including systems architect and technical delivery owner for enterprise implementations. She also designed and developed mission-critical complex system software for NASA’s Space Shuttle simulators and IBM’s AIX operating system.
Passionate about Agile development, Linda is a certified ScrumMaster. She holds degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from Texas A&M University. Connect with Linda.
David has over 30 years of experience in software engineering projects and processes, ranging from software product development to consulting and management in both the U.S. and Europe. He has spent his career applying leading-edge methodologies and architectures to develop systems that rapidly return business value.
As a Solutions Director, David creates software solutions for a variety of companies from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. He provides software consulting and project management through the entire development cycle, from design and UI to development and deployment of the final product. He works closely with clients, as well as Calavista’s local and distributed development teams to ensure the successful outcome of every project.
Prior to Calavista, David held various roles at Callidus Software. As the Director of BPM Solutions, he and his team created a unique workflow and analytics based solution which generated a significant amount of services revenue for the company. The solution proved so successful it was productized into the Callidus core suite of products. Before Callidus, David spent almost a decade with Trilogy Software working in automotive, computer, telecom and airline industries as an independent consultant where he provided software and configuration consulting solutions.
David has published and presented numerous articles on object oriented modeling environment. He holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in Computer Science from the University of Bradford. Connect with David.
Dan is an experienced, hands-on developer, architect, consultant and technology leader with over 15 years experience in the software industry building stable, scalable and maintainable applications. He has worked with a diverse set of clients, from the Fortune 500 to incubating startups, always bringing a dedication to quality and on-time delivery. Dan’s focus is on Java-based multi-tenant SaaS platforms, but his experiences also include designing and developing reporting systems, ETL systems, desktop applications, dynamic web applications and research tools. He believes in picking the right architectural style for the job, and is well versed in monolithic, service oriented and microservices paradigms. Dan is an ardent supporter of Agile, and is known for implementing the Agile Scrum methodology wherever he goes.
Prior to Calavista, Dan led the engineering team at Buzz Points, the creator of an innovative point-based rewards program. Before that, Dan led the technical design and implementation of the PayPal Enterprise Portal, a multi-tenant SaaS platform for controlling access to and sending money between federated PayPal accounts.

As Chief Architect for Calavista Software, David has overall responsibility for the technical success of the company’s software development projects. This includes determining which technology stack is most appropriate for a project, developing a minimal version of the software that can be built upon, ensuring the technical quality of the product, and working with the customer to deploy the product in a way that meets business requirements.
David has a deep hands-on technology background and extensive experience designing robust, scalable systems. Software he has architected at Calavista is currently in production at Nissan, American Express, the Heritage Foundation, and a variety of smaller companies. Prior to Calavista, David was a senior software engineer at HRWorx where he was responsible for developing software used by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration.
David has a record of delivering not just architecture on paper, but working software that is then given to a development team to build on. He has architected systems that use a variety of technologies including Java, Ruby, and C#, specifying and using frameworks such as Spring, Seam, Hibernate/JPA, Rails, Sinatra, Sitecore, Dojo, and Angular. He is not tied to any particular technology stack and is therefore able to make recommendations that provide an optimal technology solution aligned with business goals.
